Police arrest man over burglary of Southsea pharmacy

POLICE have arrested a man in relation to a burglary of a pharmacy in Southsea.

A 30-year-old man from Fareham has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and theft from a shop.

It comes after a burglary at Goldchem Pharmacy in Albert Road, on January 1.

A handbag and car keys to a Vauxhall Corsa were stolen from the staff area. The Vauxhall Corsa was stolen but later recovered.

The man has been released from custody but remains under investigation as enquiries continue.

A police spokesperson said: ‘Tackling the issue of commercial burglaries is a priority for the team in Southsea at the moment. Operation Monster is our dedicated response, working with local businesses and targeting our patrols to prevent break-ins and thefts.’
