TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of robbing a teenager.

The 17-year-old was walking along Fort Cumberland Road in Eastney when the robbers approached him and asked him for money.

When he refused, they assaulted him, grabbed the boy’s headphones and stole his iPod Nano before fleeing between 6.15pm and 6.30pm last Thursday.

Police later arrested a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Det Con Les Leithes, from Fratton CID, said: ‘This kind of attack is unusual in residential areas such as this, and we are keen to find the two men involved.

‘People using the small row of shops in the road may have seen or heard something, and I would urge these people to get in touch.’

Both men were white, about 6ft 2in and of a slim to medium build.

One of the men was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and the other had scruffy hair.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact Det Con Leithes at Fratton police station on 101 or on 0845 0454545.
