FOOTAGE recorded on dashcams is wanted by police who believe it may have captured images of a man being hunted in connection with attempted murder.
Detectives investigating the hammer attack on a 17-year-old girl have revealed the suspect may have been in Queen Street in Portsea between April 9 and 11, the day of the attack.
A spokeswoman said the footage, possibly recorded by motorists or cyclists,in Queen Street, Portsea, between 10am and 11.30am, may help the investigation.
The 17-year-old girl suffered life-changing injuries in the attack in Shearer Road on April 11, just before 7pm.
Officers said the man was in the area of Commercial Road or Edinburgh Road on Saturday, April 9.
Police are offering a £5,000 through Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the man responsible for the attempted murder of the 17-year-old girl.

Detective Inspector Gareth Jones of the Major Crime Team said: ‘We continue to investigate a number of lines of enquiries; however we need to identify the man in the CCTV image - who may or may not still have a beard.
‘I want to encourage anyone who knows him to come forward.

Police believe it is an isolated incident.
