THE chief constable of Hampshire police has been appointed by another force.

Andy Marsh was confirmed to take up the same role at Avon and Somerset police yesterday following a police and crime panel meeting.

Mr Marsh is to start in his new position on February 1 next year.

In a statement released last week, he said he was moving back to Avon and Somerset to be with his family.

Mr Marsh said: ‘It’s been an honour to serve as the chief constable of Hampshire Constabulary and I’m extremely proud of what we achieved together during my time there.’
