Police today continued to seek witnesses to a Christmas Day attack outside a Southsea pub
A man in his 50s, was taken to hospital after he was found injured outside the Festing Hotel, in Festing Road, Southsea, shortly after Christmas Eve midnight.
He is receiving treatment for head and facial injuries which police described as serious but not life-threatening.
A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out and a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
He remains in police custody for questioning.
In a statement Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘The Festing Hotel was busy with guests and visitors throughout the night, and police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen any disturbances.
‘Detectives are particularly interested in speaking to members of the public who were outside the Festing Hotel between midnight and 12.20am this morning, Christmas Day.
‘Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact CID at Fratton police station in Portsmouth by phoning 101.’
