THE front office of Portsmouth’s main police station has reopened.

It was closed from the start of July, leading to Southsea station’s front desk being opened again temporarily.

As reported, the refurbishment of the office at the station, in Winston Churchill Avenue, was due to finish in August 12 but was extended.

The work finished four days before the extended deadline and reopened yesterday.

Work to the station has made it disability compliant.

There is a new waiting area in the front office and in custody, with three new interviews rooms.

It is open from 8am to 10pm seven days a week.

The front office at Southsea police station, in Highland Road, closed again on Wednesday night.

Other police station front offices remain open.

These include Fareham police station, in Quay Street, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, and Sunday 10am to 6pm.

Gosport Station, in South Cross Street, is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9.30am to 6pm but is shut 2pm to 2.45pm.
