A MAN arrested after a police investigation into an alleged assault on a pensioner has been released with no further action.

The 25-year-old man was arrested after the incident outside The First Post, High Street, Cosham, on September 26.

He was released on bail the following day while police continued their inquiries.

After interviewing several witnesses, police decided to take no action against him.

The alleged victim was a 67-year-old man.

The investigation has been discontinued.
