THE county’s police force could be renamed.

Hampshire police and crime commissioner Simon Hayes is calling for the Home Office to make the change.

It would see Hampshire Constabulary’s name include the Isle of Wight.

Mr Hayes asked for this to be done in 2013 but was told there was not enough time in parliament.

Now he wants the change to be included as part of the forthcoming Policing and Criminal Justice Bill.
