THIEVES fled with a computer following a struggle during a break-in.

The two burglars forced their way into a flat in Western Parade, Southsea.

Police said a struggle ensued between the thieves, the householder and a visitor.

The burglars then fled the scene on bikes with a laptop, heading towards Elm Grove in Southsea.

The two victims, aged 23 and 24, were not seriously hurt.

It happened at about 7.30pm on Saturday but police have only just released details.

Detective Constable Andrew Larder, investigating, said: ‘This is a shocking but rare type of crime for Portsmouth. The consequences could have been far worse but thankfully the two victims received minor injuries only.

‘As this appears to be an aggravated burglary that took place relatively early in the evening, I would also remind people to check who is calling at their home before they open the door.’

Anyone with information should call Det Con Larder on 101 or 0845 0454545.
