At about 7pm on Tuesday, November 29, the 33-year-old victim was out running on the cycle path between Alecto Road and Alver Creek.

A man – who she did not know - pushed her over and then grabbed her by the wrists. She fought him off and ran away.

The woman was not seriously injured and was left with some bruising.

An e-fit image of a man that officers would like to speak to is attached to this appeal.

This was white, in his 40s, and had a thin face, dark hair, and stubble. He wore black clothing including a knee-length coat, and the victim said he smelt ‘odd’. The man did not speak, but made a grunting noise.

Investigating officer Det Con Charlie Cox said: ‘I am not linking this investigation with any other reports in the area, but I am keen to locate the man who we have released an image of. He may be able to assist our enquiries.

‘Thankfully the victim was not seriously injured, but I’d like to remind people using the cycle paths in the area to be aware of their surroundings especially when using unlit areas at night.’

Anyone with information should contact DC Charlie Cox at Fratton Police Station on 101, quoting 44160450519.
