Police hunting man who attacked woman under a bridge in Gosport

POLICE are seeking to reassure the community of Gosport after a woman was assaulted in the town.

Officers have launched a hunt for a man who attacked a 21-year-old on Wednesday.

The victim had been walking under the bridge in Anns Hill Road, at approximately 7.30pm, when she was attacked by the assailant.

He grabbed her shoulders and pushed her backwards before she was able to push him off. He then fled the scene.

A police spokesman for said: ‘Fortunately the victim did not suffer any injuries but she has been left shaken by the incident.’

Reassuring the community, PC Matt Curson said: ‘This is a rare occurrence for the area and we would like to speak to anyone who has information about this incident.’

The attacker is described as white, in his 50s or 60s, approximately 5ft 1ins tall, with grey hair. He was wearing glasses and a tan-coloured jacket.

‘We are particularly keen to speak to three people, possibly boys, who were seen on push bikes in the area at around the time as they may have seen the offender,’ added PC Curson.
