A 13-YEAR-OLD boy needed hospital treatment after being attacked in the street.

The victim was walking out of Drayton Newsagents in Havant Road, Drayton, when he was approached by another boy who assaulted him on the pavement.

He suffered injuries to his face before he managed to escape, running away along Havant Road into nearby Lower Drayton Road.

The boy was later taken to hospital for treatment following the attack, which happened between 3.25pm and 3.45pm on May 3.

Investigating officer PC Stewart Ainsley has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: ‘This was a vicious assault on a teenage boy who’s been left injured and upset by what happened. We know there were a number of other people around in the area at the time as the shops in Havant Road were open.

‘I’m appealing for any witnesses to come forward, particularly a good samaritan driving a red van. He stopped to pick up the victim and take him home safely.’

Call PC Ainsley on 101.
