Police investigating hammer attack on girl, 17, release new CCTV images

POLICE have released two more CCTV images as the hunt to find a person behind a hammer attack steps up.

Officers investigating the serious assault on a 17-year-old are keen to speak to the man in the pictures.

They believe he was in the area of Commercial Road and Edinburgh Road, on Saturday, April 9.

It comes as the teenage girl was attacked at an address in Shearer Road just before 7pm on Monday, April 11.

The victim of the assault sustained head injuries and remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Police are treating the assault as an isolated incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Liz Williams, of the Major Crime Team, said: ‘We need to speak to anyone who recognises the man in this CCTV image.

‘A number of lines of enquiry continue to be progressed.

‘I’d urge anyone who witnessed the assault itself or can help us identify the man in this image to make contact as soon as possible.’
