POLICE are hunting an attacker who claimed to be a Royal Marine before setting upon a man, leaving him with a broken ankle.

The drama began at the Charcoal Grill kebab shop, in North Street, Emsworth in the early hours of the morning.

The 44-year-old victim was outside when an argument broke out with another man who went on to assault him.

He sustained bruising on his face and a broken ankle and was treated at Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham.

Police have issued a CCTV image of three witnesses they would like to identify following the assault, which happened at 12.45am on Saturday, July 20.

The suspect is male, in his early 20s, mixed race and around 6ft.

He was described by the victim as athletic with short dark brown hair.

He was wearing shorts and a T shirt.

At the time of the incident he told a number of people in the area he was a serving Royal Marine.
