POLICE are carrying out a major investigation at a house in Portsmouth

Neighbours say police descended on the property in Hudson Road, Somerstown, at about 9.30am yesterday and have been at the scene investigating since then.

Hudson Road resident Robert Deverill said he thought the couple who lived in the house had had left the property yesterday accompanied by police and their car had been confiscated.

Mr Deverill said: ‘Yesterday there were lots of police in white rubber boots coming in and out.’

Another neighbour Simon Cook said: ‘Last night there was a police officer sitting in a car out the front all night.

‘It’s quite rare to see the police down this road, it’s usually really quiet.’

Half-a-dozen police officers are still at the address and earlier today a police photographer was on the scene.
