BURGLARS smashed their way into two houses.

Detectives are linking two break-ins in Petersfield.

Offenders broke into a house in Tilmore Road by smashing the glass in a back door some time between June 27 and July 4.

The crooks then searched the house but nothing is believed to have been stolen.

Another burglary happened in the same road on July 3, between 9am and 5pm.

Offenders smashed a back ground floor window to gain access to the house and once inside, they made off with a hoard of jewellery.

Detective Constable Marcus Baker said: ‘Did you see anything suspicious in Tilmore Road at the relevant times?

‘These are relatively rare occurrences for the Peterfield area but I would encourage residents to ensure their homes are kept secure at all times and to report any suspicious behaviour to police immediately.’

Anyone with information should call Detective Constable Marcus Baker at Winchester on 101.
