Police name Gosport woman charged with assaulting an emergency worker after car crash in the Crossways

A WOMAN from Gosport has been charged with several offences – including beating an emergency worker – after a car crash earlier this week.

Police were sent out at 3.52am on Monday after a blue Ford Focus hit the central island of the Crossways, in Gosport.

The driver was not there and officers visited the address recorded as the registered keeper’s, according to Hampshire Constabulary.

Police have charged Cheryl Smith, 36, of St Johns Close, Gosport, with several offences, including two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.

She has also been charged with one count of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver/rider of a vehicle when required, one count of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level is above the limit, and one count of being the driver of a vehicle which has failed to stop after a road accident.

She has been released on unconditional bail and is due at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on May 26.
