Police probing robbery on child, 12, in Portsmouth arrest 10-year-old boy

POLICE have arrested a 10-year-old boy on suspicion of robbery following an attack on another child in Portsmouth earlier this week.

The arrest comes amid an investigation by officers into the robbery of a 12-year-old boy in Angerstein Road, North End, on Tuesday evening.

The 10-year-old suspect has since been bailed, pending further enquiries, until April 4, police confirmed in a statement this afternoon.

Officers are still investigating the assault and are urging those with information to come forward.

Describing the attack, a police spokesman added: ‘The boy had just got off of a bus in London Road, near Gemini News, when two boys started to talk to him.

‘They all headed towards Angerstein Road; once in the road one of the boys punched the victim in the stomach and the other boy pulled the victim to the ground in a ‘headlock’.

‘The boys stole the victim’s iPhone 4.’

The assault took place between 6.50pm and 7.10pm.
