Portsmouth pub boss tells of his pride in staff who saved attack victim

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with three robberies on the same night.

A 37-year-old man was walking with a woman when a cyclist behind them threw down his bike and demanded money in Hampshire Terrace, Portsmouth.

He threatened the victim with a knife and was joined by another man between 9.40pm and 10.05pm on Wednesday. There was a struggle and the victim suffered cuts to his arm and face. Nothing was stolen and both men fled.

At 9.35pm a 19-year-old man was speaking on his mobile as he walked in Wellington Street, Southsea, when two men on bikes approached him. One got off his bike and demanded he hand over his phone, threatening the man with a knife. The man dropped his mobile and was then hit in the face. The victim handed over £30 cash.

At 10pm two 20-year-old men were walking in Winston Churchill Avenue when two cyclists approached them. One threatened the men with a knife. Police say they have arrested a man, aged 39, who was still in custody last night.
