A KNIFE a robber threw away may hold the key to finding him after he stabbed a 72-year-old woman in Portsmouth.
Officers are renewing their call for witnesses of the robbery, as reported in The News yesterday to come forward.
They say finding the discarded knife, any parts of a cash till, or a white sequin bag will help the investigation.
The woman was tied up during the robbery at The Goldman, in Fratton Road, at 4.45pm.
Detective Inspector Scott Mackechnie of Portsmouth CID said: ‘We would like to thank the community for their response and assistance to our investigation over the past two days.
‘Officers are pursuing every available lead to identify and arrest a suspect.
‘The 72-year-old woman remains in hospital.
‘Her injuries are not life-threatening, but she is clearly distressed about what happened to her at the shop on Tuesday afternoon. We’re appealing again for residents to check their gardens and bins for any unusual items.’
The suspect is described as white, skinny, and between 5ft 5 ins and 5ft 6 ins tall. He was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
Call police on 101.
