Police are seeking a woman who briefly reported a suspicious incident in Portsmouth.

She had a brief conversation with officers in a patrol car that was in a queue of traffic in Cosham last Friday.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘She reported that between 2.15pm and 2.35pm the same day, there was a suspicious incident in the Peronne Road area of Hilsea, near Foxes Forest.

‘The woman flagged down one of our officers’ cars in a queue of traffic on Cosham High Street, but only a brief report was given and no details were left.

‘We would urge this woman to contact us so we can take a full report of what happened.’

‘If this is you, or you think you know who this person is, please call us immediately on 101.

‘In addition, if you witnessed a suspicious incident in the area at this time please call us on 101 quoting 44170090384.’

Police say the woman is:

- aged in her late 40s or early 50s

- shoulder length black hair

- wearing a coat possibly beige in colour
