A POLICE operation to stop illegal parties at Farlington Marshes, Cosham, has been hailed a success.

Officers were at each of the entrances to the marshes at the weekend, to keep an eye on the site and keep potential party-goers away.

The move follows the previous weekend’s events when a 19-year-old collapsed after an illegal rave.

Sergeant Guy Farmer of Cosham Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: ‘The operation was 100 per cent successful as there weren’t any raves or people trying to enter the marshes for a party.

‘We’re confident that these organisers will not arrange any more parties, even in a different location.’
