POLICE had to break up an illegal rave in a park close to the Goodwood Estate.

Sussex Police were called just before midnight on Saturday over concerns from residents about loud music and lots of people in Selhurst Park, near the racecourse.

With the help of staff from the estate officers blocked the entrance to the rave and stopped more people from getting in. The sound system was located in a wooded area and confiscated under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. They managed to clear the area by 4am.

At 10am audacious ravers tried to start another event up nearby which police quickly managed to shut down.
