POLICE are reminding people to lock away tools after a spate of burglaries in Gosport.

It comes after somebody tried to break into a house in Fort Road, Alverstoke, on Friday.

Officers say there has been a spate of burglaries in Alverstoke where 
someone has tried to use tools found in gardens to get access.

PC Tara Magnus, from Gosport police station, said: ‘I’d like to remind homeowners to lock away tools securely to prevent them from being used to access your homes.

‘If you are going to be away from your house while it is dark use timer switches to turn on lights and the TV or radio to give the appearance someone is at home.

‘Please contact police if you were in the area of Fort Road or Crescent Road at the time of this incident and you have any information that may help us identify those responsible for these burglaries.’

The burglary in Fort Road happened between 3pm and 8pm.
