PEOPLE are being asked their views on paying extra council tax to fund the police.

Hampshire’s crime commissioner, Michael Lane, backs a £5 increase on Band D properties (3.12 per cent increase).

If the policing precept is not increased by that amount there could be less cash in from government and cuts to neighbourhood policing, he said.
