Jury told ‘friends thought drug runner shot in turf war ‘was dead’

TRANSPORT police are appealing for witnesses after a Pompey fan had his jaw broken.

The 56-year-old man was assaulted by a group of men at Walsall railway station after the away game on Friday.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV footage from the station and want to hear from anyone who saw the attack.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: ‘Detectives from the British Transport Police are following a number of lines of enquiry and liaising with colleagues from West Midlands Police’s football intelligence unit.

‘The victim is currently recovering from his injuries at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford.’

The attack happened at around 10.15pm.
