DRINK-DRIVER Rafal Plata has been fined and banned from the roads after he was caught nearly three times the limit.

The 30-year-old was stopped by the police as he drove his Fiat Brava in Bevis Road, North End.

A breathalyser test revealed he had 100 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Plata, of Seagrove Road, North End, was due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court earlier this month but he did not show up.

When he was brought before the court, he pleaded guilty to drink-driving and failing to attend court.

District Judge Anne Arnold fined him £700 and ordered him to pay £100 in costs.

Plata was banned from driving for two years.
