A COUPLE were attacked in their home as an ongoing feud between two families erupted into violence, a court heard.

Darren Hatherley, his daughter Jade and son Jamie Williams are alleged to have punched and kicked Ann Marie Berry and Brian Keith when they went round to their flat in Wingfield Street, Buckland.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard Ms Berry had previously been in a relationship with a relative of the Hatherleys and there were issues between the families.

Mr Keith told a jury at Portsmouth Crown Court the couple were watching television when there was a knock at the door. He said: ‘I opened the door and moments later one man rushed in, followed by another man and a female.’

Darren Hatherley grabbed him by the throat and pushed him to the ground, the court heard.

‘They were punching me and kicking me around the face, the head and the body,’ said Mr Keith.

The attack is alleged to have been on August 20 last year. Darren Hatherley, 46, of Clarendon Street, Landport, Jade Hatherley, 18, of the same address and Jamie Williams, 25, of Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, all deny two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm.
