Portsmouth jihadi Ifthekar Jaman '˜vouched for fighters' leaked Isis files reveal

The 23-year-old, from Somers Town, died fighting in December 2013.

But now leaked files from Isis show he acted as a gatekeeper vouching for others travelling to Syria, The Times said.

And The Daily Telegraph said analysis of the files show he was registered as a fighter on May 9, 2013.

His four friends who travelled to join Jaman – known as Abu Abdurrahman al-Britani – were able to list him as a reference.

Assad Uzzaman, 25, Mehdi Hassan, 19, and Manunur Roshid, 24, and Muhammad Hamidur Rahman, 25, have all died after travelling to fight.

Mashudur Choudhury, 31, of Stubbington Avenue, North End, Portsmouth, was jailed for four years in 2014 after returning from Syria.

All of the men were in a group calling themselves Britani Brigade Bangladeshi Bad Boys.

Jaman’s brothers Tuhin Shahensha, 26, and Mustakim Jaman, 23, both of Hudson Road, Somers Town, were jailed last year after being found guilty at Kingston Crown Court under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006 relating to the preparation of terrorist acts.

Major counter-extremism work has been undertaken in Portsmouth after the news of the group’s travel was revealed.
