Portsmouth Magistrates' Court - latest update on criminal cases

Kevin Chandler, 41, of no fixed address, admitted assault, damaging property and three shoplifting offences between March 3 and February 24.

He stole alcohol, a bin, kitchen foil, crisps, and a vacuum from Asda.

He was jailed for eight weeks with £10 compensation and £122 victim surcharge to pay.

Rock Dunford, 47, of no fixed address, admitted stealing £30 worth of wine from Co-op in on January 9 in Park Gate.

He admitted stealing £63.96 worth of wine from a petrol station in Broom Way on January 10, chicken and coffee on the same fay from a shop in Co-op, Privett Road, Gosport.

He admitted stealing £59.40 worth of wine from Co-op in Stubbington Green on January 9, and £70 of wine from Co-op in Warsash Road on December 19.

Dunford admitted failing to surrender to court on February 25.

Fined £150 with £32 victim surcharge. He was detained in court.

Daniel Scoffham, 45, of Westfield Road, Gosport, admitted theft of a handbag at Gosport Discovery Centre on February 17.

He admitted taking vodka from Morrisons on February 4, and failing to surrender to custody on March 3.

Scoffham must pay £280 compensation.

Trudy Hutchings, 31, of HMP Bronzefield, admitted assault by beating and was jailed for 14 days.

David Agate, 45, of Paper Mill Lane, Alton, admitted assault by beating on January 1.

Fined £266 with £32 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Mason Gibbs, 25, of Hilsea Crescent, Portsmouth, admitted assault by beating on August 22.

Fined £400 with £40 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Steve Reed, 38, of no fixed address, admitted causing racially-aggravated harassment, alarm or distress on June 21 last year in Southsea.

Fined £40 and detained in court.

He also admitted three charges of causing harassment, alarm or distress on August 22, January 30 and February 7.

Fined £40 with nine-month community order with 15 days' rehabilitation activities.

Reed admitted failing to turn up at court on February 25.

Ashley Allan, 30, of Ernest Road, Bedhampton, admitted failing to comply with a suspended sentence and was fined £100 with £60 costs.

Callum Benfield, 24, of Widley Road, Portsmouth, admitted failing to comply with a community order on November 20.

Magistrates told him to do an extra 30 hours' unpaid work and pay £60 costs.
