A MAN accused of attacking his friend, leaving him with serious head injuries, has appeared in court.

Jamie Denman, of Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court today.

The 36-year-old is charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and making threats to kill.

It is alleged he attacked 37-year-old Mark Williams, of Hilsea, on Saturday morning.

Denman, dressed in a grey jumper and jogging bottoms, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. He did not enter a plea during the hearing.

During the 10-minute hearing, magistrates heard details of the assault.

Denman was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court, on Monday, November 14.

He will appear via video link from custody for this hearing.

As he was led away from the dock and into custody, Denman waved at his family and friends.
