MAGISTRATES have fined a man for assaulting a police officer.

John Guest had denied assaulting PC Peter Rackham in the execution of his duty in Fratton Road, Fratton, Portsmouth, on May 12.

But Guest, of Canal Walk, Landport, was found guilty by Fareham magistrates.

He also admitted a charge of failing to surrender to bail.

He was told to pay £70 compensation and ordered to stay in between 7pm and 7am for 12 weeks.
