A MAN was arrested over a jewellery raid after a car chase.

The 35-year-old from Portsmouth was detained after a raid at Lowery jewellers in North Street, Chichester.

An alarm set off at 3.22am today and police saw three men running to Chapel Street and then to St Cyriacs.

Sussex police said a silver Mercedes came out of St Cyriacs and police attempted to block it in Chapel Street. The car mounted the pavement and sped off to Portsmouth on the A27.

Hampshire police detained a man. Police are not linking it to a raid at Ernest Jones on Tuesday morning. Call police on 101.
