Portsmouth man charged with drinking driving
A MAN has been charged with drinking driving after crashing through a railing in Portsmouth.
Leonard Clarke, 37, collided his Volkswagen Golf with the traffic island and railings on Lake Road, Fratton, yesterday evening. Police followed Mr Clarke, of Chesterfield Road, Baffins, when he pulled out speeding from Malvern Road.
He will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates on October 27.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Police followed a vehicle making off at speed.
‘The vehicle then collided with the traffic island and railings.
‘Leonard Clarke has been arrested and charged.’
