Portsmouth man jailed for more than 10 years over drug dealing

David Mark Rewcastle, 33 from Farmside Gardens, Hilsea, pleaded guilty to multiple offences after being arrested on January 27.

Appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court, Rewcastle pleaded guilty to four counts of being concerned in the production of cannabis, a class B drug, a charge of possession with intent to supply cannabis, two counts of possession with intent to supply cocaine, a class A drug, and possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid / gas / electrical device.

A judge jailed him for 124 months.

Harvey Ransom, 22 of Wells Close, Baffins, received a 19-month sentence suspended for a year and was ordered to carry out 50 hours unpaid work.

Ransom admitted four charges of being concerned in the production of cannabis and possessing cannabis with intent to supply. He also admitted having criminal property '“ cash.

Amber Field, 22 of High Street, Cosham, received a four month sentence suspended for one year and was ordered to carry out 50 hours unpaid work and pay a £500 fine.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Heelan said the sentencing sends a '˜clear message' to drug dealers in the city.

He said: '˜Rewcastle received a substantial sentence, which highlights the seriousness of his offences.

'˜This sends a clear message that we will not tolerate drug dealing in Portsmouth, which I hope reassures our local community.

'˜I would urge anyone with information about drug dealing to call police on 101, or in an emergency or if a crime is in progress call 999.'
