Portsmouth man to appear in court on drug possession charge after suspicious trio spotted on scooters

A MAN is due to appear in court after being charged for drug possession.

Officers charged Alfie Pennell, 27, of Stamshaw Road, Portsmouth, with possession of a controlled drug of Class B.

It comes after police were deployed to Cumberland Road on Sunday evening (May 3) at around 9.20pm, following reports of three men seen to be acting suspiciously on scooters.

Pennell is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on June 2.

A police spokesman said: ‘We hope this news reassures our residents that we are continuing our work to tackle crime and protect our communities during the pandemic. This work does not stop.’
