Pauline Piper: Get real! Yes it has its problems but really? Just avoid the wrong places as in any heavily populated city.

Chris Overthrow: This is odd. I have never felt unsafe in Portsmouth ever. Yes there are youths that might occasionally get lairy but they're all talk. In terms of crime are we saying all crime is unsafe? That's just not true.

Liam Bailey: Load of rubbish! London is the most unsafe city. Got a bigger murder rate than New York!

Chris Dowling: What about living in London with all the knife crime and increase in deaths? Acid attacks, scooter thefts, attacks happen daily in London. Portsmouth is no different than many other cities. Unfortunately our society is out of control in parts.

Joe Sweeney: I totally disagree. Portsmouth is one of top worse place to live, and probably the second worst with London the biggest. There is still people getting mugged, stabbed, also there is fights and robbery going on. How is that safe?

Pat Mulvihill: I have been to Portsmouth a few times and have never felt threatened in all my time there, it's a beautiful city, crime is not confined to just one town, let alone a city.

David Terry: Pompey safe as houses. 100x better than when I was a kid.

Ian Christopher Yates: I now live and work in Portsmouth and feel perfectly safe.

Stu Ford: If there hadn't been cuts of 20,000 coppers since 2010, and to youth programmes all around the country, every city would be safer!

Debbie Upchurch: I find it hard to believe that it's worse than Manchester or Birmingham. I haven't lived in Portsmouth for some years but growing up It was very safe. I even felt safe walking home late at night on my own even when a lot of sailors were in port.

Kerry Feast: Every city has its bad areas, I've travelled around the country watching Pompey and I've seen some far worse, scarier places than Portsmouth!
