Portsmouth phone shop con artist is in rogues' gallery

A ROGUES' gallery of 10 wanted alleged con-artists has been released, ahead of new crime figures that are expected to reveal the huge scale of fraud in the UK.

Details of the alleged criminals, published on Tuesday by City of London Police and the National Crime Agency, include Naeem Ahmed, 44.

Ahmed is accused of conning mobile phone shops out of handsets worth £40,000 by using stolen customer payment details.

He was arrested in October 2014 after staff at a store in Portsmouth became suspicious, and he was charged with 21 alleged fraud offences between June and October 2014 before he disappeared.

Ahmed got upgrades or was given new handsets at a number of stores in Portsmouth, Fareham, Southampton, Winchester, Salisbury, Eastleigh, Andover, Bridgewater, Weston Super Mare, Taunton, Leeds, Dewsbury, Wakefield, Castleford, Newbury, Bristol, Cardiff and Newport.

The conman, from Smethwick in the West Midlands is believed to be in the midlands but police have not yet managed to track him down.
