POLICE have arrested two men in connection with suspected Class A drug dealing in Fratton.

Officers patrolling the area on Monday noticed suspicious activity around the underpass beneath the Bradford Junction roundabout.

A 20-year-old man from Ilford was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug, while a man of the same age from Burton-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug.

Both have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

It comes as Hampshire Constabulary continues Operation Fortress, a county-wide focus on tackling the drug trade.

In a social media post, a member of the Portsmouth police team said: ‘Our officers will continue to be out and about conducting patrols and stop searches where necessary.

‘Throughout the course of the week we’ve seized a number of mobile phones and large quantities of cash which will assist our enquiries into drug dealing within the city

‘In addition we’ve seized two bikes believed to be stolen and hope to try and reunite these with their rightful owners.’
