SEVEN people have been arrested in a major police campaign against drug-related violence.

Police swooped on four houses - one in Portsmouth - on Friday, June 20, and arrested seven people on suspicion of drug offences as part of Operation Fortress.

A Hampshire Police spokesman said: ‘We’re now in a position to confirm that seven people are being questioned at police stations across Hampshire on suspicion of drugs offences.

‘The arrests were made during four warrants executed in Thornhill, Botley and Portsmouth.

‘The suspects are four men and three women, aged between 17 and 50, all from the Hampshire area.’

The arrests follow police sealing off woodland on Netley Common near Thornhill, Southampton, while they searched for drug-related evidence yesterday.

Anyone with information about illegal drugs affecting their community should call Hampshire Police on 101.
