A SHOPLIFTER has been ordered to stay at home on weekends under a curfew.

Elina Meinerte stole a handbag and pastries worth £44 from Marks & Spencer in Commercial Road, Portsmouth.

Meinerte, of Croft Road, North End, pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The 28-year-old has a number of previous convictions for shoplifting, including one from the same shop.

She will have to wear an electronic tag and stay at home between 7pm and 7am on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for three weeks.
