Attempt murder probe: second man arrested

Have your say

TWO thugs racially abused and assaulted a taxi driver and almost caused a crash while he was driving.

The 40-year-old cabbie collected two passengers from the KFC car park in Fratton Way following Saturday’s match at Fratton Park.

As he drove towards the roundabout at the junction of Fratton Way and Goldsmith Avenue, in Southsea, the two men started hurling racist abuse at him.

One pulled the handbrake of the taxi while it was moving, almost resulting in a collision with a car travelling behind it.

The driver pulled up on to a nearby kerb in Fratton Way at which point one of the men assaulted him. He was then chased by both men, but managed to get away.

The incident happened between 5pm and 5.45pm. The offenders are white, both in their late 20s and around 5ft 9in tall.

One was stocky, and wore a grey jumper and blue jeans. The other is overweight, and wore a white and green horizontal-striped rugby shirt. Call 101 with any information.
