A WOMAN who stole £140 worth of clothes from a shop has been let off with a conditional discharge.

Hayley Gray took the women’s clothes from Matalan in Station Street, Portsmouth.

She was arrested and bailed to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

When she did not arrive on time for her court hearing a warrant was issued for her arrest.

But the warrant was withdrawn when she turned up at court late.

Unemployed Gray, of Havant Road, Cosham, pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The 29-year-old was given a nine-month conditional discharge.

The magistrates ordered her to pay £35 in costs. The money will be taken out of the benefits she receives.
