POLICE have charged a woman with stealing jewellery and furniture and trying to sell it at a pawn shop.

Alison McElvenny, 43, is alleged to have taken two gold rings and pieces of furniture from Susan King between January and December last year.

She is also accused of applying for a credit card in the name of Ms King.

McElvenny, of Whitley Row, Milton, did not enter pleas to two charges of theft and two of fraud when she appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

She was released on bail to appear at the crown court in November.
