Almost 50 people were killed and another 53 injured after a heavily-armed gunman opened fire at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida — the worst mass shooting in US history.

Tonight Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower has been lit up in rainbow colours marking the atrocity. The site’s general manager Sarah Webb said it was a sign of solidarity for the LGBT community.
