Jed said: ‘Being a National Probation Award finalist is fantastic recognition of the scheme and the efforts of the team of volunteer veteran peer mentors who work hard applying their specific knowledge, empathy and armed forces service experience to help ex-service personnel who commit offences, many related to the challenges of adjusting to civilian life.

‘We’ve helped ex-services personnel to access support to deal with many issues such as mental health issues including post-traumatic stress disorder, substance misuse, social integration, financial advice, accommodation, employment and transition to civilian life.’
