A SHOPLIFTER who has 50 previous convictions for theft has been warned she faces jail for her latest offence.

Elizabeth Hoare was caught stealing £84 worth of meat from Morrison’s in Anchorage Park, Portsmouth, on June 19.

Hoare, 39, of Beach Road, Southsea, pleaded guilty to theft when she appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

District Judge Anne Arnold adjourned the case until next month so that a pre-sentence report could be carried out on the defendant.

The judge warned Hoare that the case could be sent to the crown court where a tougher sentence could be imposed than by the magistrates’ court.

‘All sentencing options remain open, including the possibility of you being committed to the crown court for sentence,’ she said.

Hoare was released on bail until her sentencing.
