A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

Police received a report from the hospital at 1.45pm on Thursday that a female patient in her 20s had made an allegation of rape by a male healthcare worker at the hospital overnight on Wednesday.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Wardley-Wilkins from West Sussex CID said: ‘We are in the early stages of a full investigation.

‘Officers are continuing their enquiries and are receiving full cooperation from Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust. The victim is receiving help and support from specially trained police officers.’

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust have confirmed that a member of staff at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, has been arrested by Sussex Police.
