A teenager who suffered gunshot wounds last night is in hospital with ‘serious injuries’

Two arrests have been made and police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old boy was shot last night in Blackwater, Hampshire.

Officers were called to Hearsey Gardens at 2.56pm yesterday and found the teenager with ‘serious injuries’.

The boy has been taken to hospital for treatment and is now in a stable condition.

A 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Blackwater, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The pair are currently in custody.

Police are now calling for witnesses who may have any information to come forward.

Chief Inspector Matt Reeves said: ‘This was a very serious incident which has left a young man in hospital. We don’t doubt that you will have your concerns, but fortunately incidents of this nature are rare in Hampshire.

‘Detectives are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area, so please be assured that this is being taken very seriously.

‘You will likely see a lot of officers in Blackwater today as we look to reassure the community, as well as investigate what has happened in Hearsey Gardens.

‘If you have any concerns or any information that could help us, please do come and speak to us or give us a call on 101.’
