Robber threatens Portsmouth newsagent with knife before grabbing cash

POLICE are hunting a man who threatened a newsagent with a knife before making off with nearly £200 in cash.

Viji Haran was alone in Victory News, in Copnor Road, Copnor, when the robber struck.

Mr Haran, 37, said: ‘It was about 6.30pm on Friday when the man came in. I couldn’t do anything except open the till. He just grabbed the money and left. I was a bit panicked and called the police straight away’.

The robber ran off along Kirby Road. He was white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 10ins and of slim build. He had black hair and stubble and wore a black hooded top with the hood up, dark trousers and black-rimmed glasses. He spoke with a local accent.
